📢 Prominent Disclosure: Android VpnService Usage

Net Blocker utilizes Android's native VpnService strictly to establish a local, on-device loopback interface (sinkhole). We DO NOT inspect, decrypt, collect, monitor, or transmit any user data or network packets to any remote server or third party. The VpnService interface acts solely as an internal virtual gate to drop traffic for applications that you explicitly choose to block.

1. Core Architecture & Philosophy

Your privacy is our core foundation. Net Blocker is engineered strictly as an on-device network control utility. We operate under a straightforward privacy principle: What happens on your device stays on your device. We do not operate external VPN servers and do not route, proxy, or relay your internet traffic across the internet.

2. Permissions Requested & Technical Justification

To provide its core firewall functionality, Net Blocker requests only the minimal necessary permissions:

  • BIND_VPN_SERVICE (VpnService): Used exclusively to create the local on-device sinkhole that drops packets for blocked applications. No traffic is rerouted to any remote destination.
  • QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: Required to query and display the list of installed applications so you can selectively choose which ones to block. This list is processed strictly in-memory on your device and is never stored, tracked, or uploaded.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required by Android 13+ to display the persistent foreground service notification. This informs you of active protection and prevents the Android system from terminating the firewall.
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE & CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE: Used to dynamically detect whether you are connected to Wi-Fi or Mobile Data to accurately enforce your rules.

3. Zero Data Collection Policy

We believe in absolute data minimization. Net Blocker collects NO personal data:

  • No personal identifiable information (name, email, phone number) is collected or requested.
  • No browsing history, DNS queries, visited domains, or packet payloads are recorded or stored.
  • No third-party analytics trackers, profiling SDKs, or advertising libraries are embedded in the application.
  • All user rules (which apps are blocked on Wi-Fi or Data) are stored locally in private application storage (SharedPreferences) and never leave your device.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Net Blocker does not knowingly collect, store, or solicit any personal information from children under 13 years of age. The application complies fully with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and international data privacy regulations.
